Ink by thepm34 Ink by thepm34
I like the effect of ink falling in water, it's hard to photograph though.

Hi Thanks for the kind words,
I would say get a good flash for one thing, they really help. And get a decent tripod if you want to do studio style stuff. Not sure what else to say, I guess with stuff like the Ink photo, try to get it as clean as possible in camera, don't assume you can fix everything in photoshop :)
Hope that is usefull.

Lol I'd call something like this... a 3D Rorshach test.

Hmmm to me it looks like... an anthro cow in a Chinese emperor's clothing holding a fish.

What do you see?

Love the photography

It's smoke and water in one frame! The pause in time redefined by a beautiful figure. I'm wondering what background you used for such an expressive capture? This is worth documenting, so interesting!

Thanks,
I used a large bowl of water, dripped the ink and fired multiple shots. One flash to the side and a white background.
Cleaned up a little in photoshop.
I took so many shots before I got any I was pleased with.

well it was fairly clean to start with, but it did require a little photoshop work i.e. spot healing and clone work.

In fact there is a small Finnish magazine I order with photo shooting contest with the topic being water, I though I could give it a shot since I have the equipment. I should go and buy some ink today :D
I just wouldn't like to copycat you, hope you won't mind if I make something a bit similar to this? D:

How to make it?
drop the ink into water?
then take the photo out of the glass?
Reply
:iconthepm34:
thepm34 Featured By Owner Nov 30, 2007
hi Jungshan, yes that's pretty much it. Make sure you have good lighting, lots of it, and if you have a clean glass tank, like a fish tank, that would be perfect for this.
